Formed in 1999 in the capital city of São Paulo, the band Polara released their third studio album, titled “Partilha,” on Tuesday, (7). Produced by Rafael Crespo, former guitarist of Planet Hemp, at El Rocha studio, the 10-track album is under the label Burning London Records and is set to be released on vinyl in the first half of 2024.
“‘Partilha’ is the exchange we have between ourselves, between us and the audience, and the way we do things, where each one gives what they have for the machinery to turn,” says vocalist Carlos Dias.
Mario Cappi, the band’s guitarist, reflects on the inspirations that were part of the creative process behind “Partilha.” “The influences are the many things we have always listened to, our daily routines, our companions, pets, the people we interact with, public transportation, the city, the arts, cinema. It has more to do with our senses in general; I won’t reduce this whole process to hearing because I think it goes beyond that. It transcends.” When it comes to musical style, the guitarist mentions that the band listens to everything from Cartola to Slayer, including reggae and punk. “We listen to almost everything, and what we hear unconsciously influences our musical construction process.”
