Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ava Rivello, from Philadelphia, has just released “hold me til i fall asleep,” a single that precedes a concept EP tracing the journey from a breakup to personal rediscovery.
The track marks a new chapter in Ava’s career, who is also known as a model and content creator, and reinforces the approach that has defined her earlier work: turning personal experiences into emotionally charged alternative rock songs.
A love song that turned into a confession
In an interview with RagTalent, Ava explained that the song started out as a declaration of love, but changed direction as she wrote it. She said that during the process she realized the relationship had become toxic, even though she wasn’t ready to accept it.
The singer said that writing the song helped her come to terms with letting the relationship go, even before she felt ready for it to end. As she put it to RagTalent, she knew deep down that they both needed to grow separately.
Talking to WorldAuthors, she detailed how the single captures the delicate moment of trying to hold on to something that no longer works, right before finally finding the courage to move on. The track is part of an EP meant to trace that full arc, from heartbreak to self-discovery, including songs like “no good,” “(it was) never love,” and “closer to dead.”

A sound that echoes the ’90s and 2000s
Musically, “hold me til i fall asleep” leans into a power-ballad feel, with guitars that recall ’90s and early-2000s alternative rock, plus live drums, a detail RagTalent’s review singled out as one of the production’s highlights for giving the song room to breathe and building tension that culminates in Ava’s most intense vocals.
